Spacehack

Ariel Waldman has just launched a fantastic new website for the space community called Spacehack. Spacehack is “a directory of ways to participate in space exploration, interact + connect with the space community and encourage citizen science” and lists projects from a broad range of topics including competitions, open source, data analysis, and education. It’s definitely a valuable source of information for anyone who wants to get involved in the space community. If you have a project that should be added to the directory, you can submit your project to be included on the site.

This is fantastic. I’ve often wished there were a good list like this to point new space enthusiasts at. Note that you can actually suggest ANY project, not just your own. I’m really excited to see what everyone suggests. There are already a bunch of things on the list that I’d never heard of. Thanks, Spacehack!

What an excellent addition to the nasa.gov webpage! I really think @NASA is making great progress recently in terms of moving nasa.gov towards a collaborative, two-way discussion. The current nasa.gov framework has a number of constraints that make it hard to do everything we’d like it too, but this new feature/page is definitely a step in the right direction. It’s also pretty creative on part of the HQ team and shows that they really are doing everything they can to move that way. It’ll be really exciting to watch nasa.gov change over the next couple of years and to become truly more participatory. Good job!

OpenNASA is not there anymore. Is that because this site isn’t an official NASA site? That would make sense.
Are they looking for NASA employees interested in blogging? Just asking.
