Thanks Tim,

I do have some documentation that I am putting together, including a proposal, that I am not prepared to release online..yet..as they are part of an unsolicited proposal I'll be putting forward, likely in April. Indeed, I was hoping to gain some insight through comments to this post...but so far the folks that have contributed ideas have chosen to do so in private. Nonetheless, I do appreciate this positive comment.

With regarding to 1.0 thinking in a 2.0 world, I'd have to say that's perhaps an over simplification. To further the analogy, I'd say NASA is at least 1.5, and the only way to advance the Agency forward, we have to work within the parameters that exist today, not the parameters that we imagine for tomorrow.

Matt-
Sounds like the CoLab team was in the same position as a lot of NASA programs: paralyzed by their limited resources while juggling disparate and unclear priorities. If the group chartered to create collaboration inside NASA has these fundamental challenges, perhaps this should be addressed first!

I love your idea of a formalized training program to get more people at NASA familiar with collaboration tools. If CoLab is unable or unwilling to move forward with the idea, who else inside NASA has available discretionary budget and clear rational for moving it forward? PAO? Headquarters?

Can you post more of the documents online or a presentation that outlines the specific needs of the program? Perhaps we can crowd-source a training program that can easily be integrated into SATERN with little impact to the NASA budget. It could even be created as a free online "course" that interested people could take--both inside and outside NASA!

Why use 1.0 thinking to implement training for a 2.0 world?
